4 SHELTER WHEEL VALVE KIT (FOR 2 PAIRS OF WHEELS)

Shelter Wheel Kit consists of adhesive washers: tucked into the valve, glued to the rim and elegantly and almost invisiblely prevent vibrations or annoying noises.
The Kit is also ideal for balancing the wheels, with an effect of reducing the vibrations of the visco-elastic material.
Shelter Wheel Kit

STRENGTHS:

  • eliminates annoying noises in the valve area, especially on high-profile rims
  • Shelter washers can be used to balance the wheels
  • the visco-elastic behavior of the material reduces vibration propagation

features:

How to make valves quiet:
Shelter Wheel Kits tucked into the valve, glue to the rim and elegantly and almost invisiblely prevent vibrations or annoying noises.
The resealable bag ensures that unused washers retain their characteristics even for subsequent applications. Once shelter washers are glued to the rim, you can remove and reinsert the valve, without losing the precious "silencing". This is the simplest feature of the Shelter Wheel Kit, but there's so much more.
No one would drive a sports car whose wheels have not been carefully balanced once the tires have been installed. In cycling, the current high-performance wheels with perhaps ceramic bearings and very light carbon rims cannot reveal their full potential without having been properly balanced. It is a simple operation that requires a Shelter Wheel Kit, a wheel stand (over the counter... or an upside-down bicycle),
a little patience and a few minutes of time.

Much nicer and effective than electrical tape to silence valves on high-end wheels
Much more effective (and elegant) than adhesive tape to make valves quiet on high-end rims
How to balance the wheels:

Mount the tire, any brake disc so that the wheel is ready for use.

IMPORTANT: If it is a tubeless wheel, make sure there is very little or no sealant liquid inside (it can be added after balancing). The liquid sealant distributes evenly during pedaling, but can interfere with static balance.

Place the wheel on a center-wheel stand and make sure it can spin freely.

Turn the wheel with a slight thrust. After some complete rotations in the direction of thrust, the wheel will enter a pendulum phase in which it will perform partial rotations in one direction and the other. Acting like a pendulum, the excess mass on the wheel is subject to a
gravity that accelerates it towards the equilibrium point. The amplitude of these oscillations is reduced until the wheel stops: the lowest point is that of equilibrium, where the excess mass is located. Often the wheels stop with the valve at the bottom point...
but sometimes an uneven distribution of weight on the tyre prevails, so the heaviest point may be elsewhere.
Keeping the lowest point of the wheel as a reference, identify the opposite point on the circle circumference (it can be done with a ruler, aligned with the lowest point and center of the hub) and glue a Shelter washer here.
Repeat the process from .1. Each time the heaviest point can be slightly moved (due to friction in the hub) but will remain approximately in a position range of +-10 cm.
The wheel is balanced when, turning it, IT STOPS WITHOUT STARTING THE PENDULUM PHASE, so without reversing the direction of rotation. Turning the wheel later will stop at the bottom of a random point of the wheel, influenced by friction in the hub.

Shelter washers can be glued to each other, or side by side, at the top of the circle or on the sides (depending on the size/profile of the circle)..

An elegant trick, although not always possible, is to find a radius near the lightest point and glue the washer around the nipples, after cutting it to one side with scissors.

Each washer weighs about 1 g. Typical wheel imbalance values require 4 to 12 grams of counterweight.

Visco-elasticity reduces vibrations:

The transmission of vibrational energy through any structure can be reduced by adding visco-elastic elements in some places. That's exactly what Shelter does, not only protecting rigid carbon frames from shocks but reducing vibrations at the same time.

THE KIT INCLUDES 4 ADHESIVE VALVE FROGS!
